Fellow night owl or early riser.. Saturday morning I'm impressed!! :-) Curious as to why you prefer this instead of UVXY or TVIX if your short the market? I've never traded SDS, but after looking at the chart it doesn't seem to move much when the market dips. Between Feb 23 and Feb 24 the SPY dropped $3 overnight and SDS only moved from $21.95 to near $22.55, UVXY went from $40.95 to $45.30. Then again, the flip side to that coin is that it doesn't drop much either. :-) UVXY has gone from $45 to $27.5 since and SDS from $22.5 to $19.7. I'm genuinely interested, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Ninja, I'm still a little confused on this play... You're a good trader, do you have any thoughts on this?

Looking at the charts of both SDS and UVXY... From August 18th to the 24th SDS went from $20.16 to $25.60, UVXY went from $25.81 to $73.69 and then topped off at $91.25 on Sept 1st. Am I missing something? UVXY is within only $4 of 52wk lows, but the upside seems massive in comparison.

Whenever I'm short the market I have been turning to UVXY over the last year. Rode it's coattails in August, but only caught part of the move. Ever since then this is my go-to stock to short the market. Currently I am short the market and have been trading UVXY a lot lately. I put on more size (1,000 shrs, a lot for me) Thursday and Friday, and am holding over the weekend. I could see the market running a little more next week, but IMO it is low on gas. I am prepared to add another 1,000 to 1,500 shrs next week, and when the market looks like its topping off I will be in another 1,000. IMO this WILL be a huge money maker when the market runs out of steam. I rode this from $28 to $45 in less than two weeks from the end of Dec to Jan 11. And then again from $40 to high $50's from end of Jan. to Feb 12.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, enjoy your Saturday afternoon.

I don't mess with Pornstar. He's very good. I'm just asking if waiting a bit longer as I don't see any moving average crossover yet which is what I usually look for.

I agree, he is very good and has years of experience on me... Not doubting the play here (as I am also short on this market), but always searching for new ideas and trying to get the most bang for my buck.

I'm interested in what reindeer games the algos have for us this time. Push the shorts til they say "no mas!" to boost it higher then turn it?

I'm interested is well... I would think a lot of shorts started jumping in when the SPY hit 1995 from 1982 in a few weeks. By now a lot would have covered I would think. I don't know anyone who thought it would go this high. IMO the chart looks scary right now, who ever is buying right now is insane. IMO it could push to the 2040-2050 range, but after that look out below. At least I hope so, I've got a ridiculous amount of shorts on right now.

Well we had a close above the 200d sma to end the week. That's pretty bullish. Also, this entire push up has had the full respect of the 5d ema which, for me, represents the strongest of trends. RSI still has space too. MACD opened up again. Hasn't x-over'd yet. Stoch's are also curling up again.

Bounced well off of the 100d sma too.

On the weekly charts there is another x-over.

UVXY - I cant use because it issues K-1 and I literally paid $70k in unnecessary taxes for USO back in 2014. I don't touch any ETP or ETF that issues K-1 They can literally dump anything they want onto your K-1 and you have to pay tax liabilty for it. Very dangerous
TVIX- I don't NECESSARILY think volatility has to rise for the market to go down. It can trend down and not have major volatility. Bad for Vol products
SDS- I don't know where it goes short term but I just don't think long term the market has enough juice to rise much more. The Fed "juice" that is.
