Interesting. I have been looking at similar device a while back but not recently. Back when such device was at its infancy, the supported codec was small and there are restrictions like resolution size, subtitle support, etc.

I was planning on building my own media server from a quiet SFF PC. I guess I can take a look at this now. Thanks for the info!

Hi Lupin,

I recently bought a Western-Digital-WD-TV-HD-Media-Player. It's the best purchase I bought in a while and could decodes any digital format. The reason I bought it was after reading an article from Wired.

The sad thing is that yesterday I accidently plug my harddrive in the HP Home Media server and it automatically format the drive. Anyway, the picture quality is awesome.
